Avoiding dairy foods is key if you wish to obtain optimal health. First of all, cow’s milk is designed to help a baby calf reach a multiple of it’s birth weight in a specific time frame. Mammals in their natural habitat do not consume milk of other types of mammals. Human beings are the only creatures who do this.
Cow’s milk is designed to take a baby cow from 90 pounds at birth to several hundred pounds in less than two years. However, humans normally grow from around 6 to 8 pounds at birth to between 100 and 200 pounds at the age of 18 years. Therefore, if humans continue to consume dairy products throughout life, they can be expected to most likely gain weight at a higher than normal rate.
Dairy products are simply liquid, cream, or solid forms of meat. They are high in cholesterol and fat, and contain no fiber. This is in no way a healthy composition of a food.
Yet, we are brainwashed at an early age into believing dairy is essential to be healthy. The dairy industry has done an outstanding job of promoting the myth that we need three servings of milk, cheese, and/or yogurt a day to maintain strong, healthy bones and overall health. In fact, the countries with the highest rates of dairy consumption, including the United States, New Zealand, Britain, and Sweden, also have the highest rates of osteoporosis.
In contrast, people living in rural China, who consume one-third the amount of dairy we do in the U.S., have almost no cases of osteoporosis.
In the meantime, enjoy all the wonderful plant substitutes for dairy products, such as rice, soy, almond, oat and hemp milks. When you eliminate all forms of dairy, you be eliminating allergens, lactose, animal protein and saturated fat, and in it’s place you will have many new exciting healthy foods to enjoy instead.
